As I'm sure you already know, "She's got a bun in the oven." is a very old-fashioned way of telling someone that a woman is pregnant.
Yes, that was way before it was cool to show off your sonogram photos and people were probably referring to pregnancy in this way even before sonogram existed. Don't quote me on that. I'm not a history major so I can't verify if this is true or not.
It's still a very cute way of putting it and an adorable baby shower theme idea. If it were up to me, I'd turn this one into a Tea and serve Honey Buns on the side, of course.
You can plan a "Bun" shower at any time of the year but I think it's a "best idea" for an autumn or winter baby shower.
And yes! Zazzle does have personalized invites to go along with this fun shower idea. Thanks for asking.

Add sparkle and shine to your chic bridal shower using these lovely invites.
Design features a "rain shower" dripping with sparkling gems and gold glitter.
The word "shower" is also created with a photographic image of gold glitter.
No real stones or actual glitter has been used on this invite but you'll get all of the glorious shine without the mess or additional expense of mailing something that would surely weigh a ton if they were created using real glitter and gems.
Created and sold by the talented artist behind The Spotted Olive at Zazzle, these high quality 5" x 7" invites are available on several different types of card stock and the price will be determined by your choice. Shown here on "Basic", I think you'll agree that they look just great.

Sprinkled with Love Invite
Baby Sprinkles are quickly becoming popular.
What is a Sprinkle Baby Shower?
A Sprinkle is a baby shower that's held for the mother-to-be who already has young children and probably still has most of the big ticket items she'll need for raising another baby such as a high chair, a walker, a stroller, a crib and a car seat.
At a Sprinkle she'd be more likely to get new clothing, blankets, diapers, and all of the other little things she'll need for the new baby such as powders, creams and maybe even a new diaper bag.
Sprinkles are especially useful when the newcomer will be a bundle of love of the opposite sex when mommy will need clothing and items in a whole new color scheme.
How to throw a Baby Sprinkle Instead
There's really no difference in the party planning. You can play games, or not. You can make it a tea, brunch, luncheon or dinner party. You can include the guys for a Couples Sprinkle, or just get the girls together if you like.
Many prefer to use a fun theme that incorporates the cute name such as "Sprinkles on a Cupcake" or "Rain Shower related Sprinkles" but again, this is totally up to you.
Your invitations will probably be the most important thing that you'll need to make it known to your intended guests that you're having a Sprinkle instead of a regular shower. Many will include a cute poem that explains things for those who've never been to one before. And since these parties are a fairly new idea, there might be quite a few that fit that description.

No matter if you decide to go the traditional route or try a Sprinkle instead, we're sure the mommy-to-be-again will be truly grateful for a wonderful get-together with friends and family and a few new things to welcome baby.

The History of Bridal Showers
Did you know that the custom of throwing a bridal shower dates back to the time when dowries were popular? Friends of the woman to be wed began giving what is now known as a bridal shower to compensate women who came from poor families who couldn't afford a proper dowry, or for a woman whose father didn't approve of the marriage and refused to pay.
